Gun Sales Surging; Local Gun Stores Are Cleaned Out

Levittown Now:

Gun shops are reporting an increase in sales in recent months as part of a national trend which has seen sales of firearms skyrocket amid national news stories including the global coronavirus pandemic, anti-racist and anti-police brutality protests surrounding the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police, and civil unrest.

Cowen Research, a market intelligence firm, reported last week that background checks for U.S. guns, used as a proxy for gun sales in the absence of more reliable data, had increased by 69 percent in April and 75 percent in May, with percentages reaching 94 percent for handguns.

I went to a couple local gun stores down here in my town as I was looking for a Ruger Mini-14. Everything, and I mean everything is sold out and on back order. This includes ammunition.

Stock of Sturm & Ruger has had a nice run and if the unrest continues, and it will in my view, I expect more and more people to purchase firearms.

I bought a small position in (RGR) a few weeks ago.

It has had a nice move but it looks like a long hot summer. Anymore unrest is going to incentivize folks to buy a gun. If it appears that Biden and the leftists will win in November than expect another surge in sales as people will be worried about new gun control measures.
